Discover Yourself

A space to be heard, not fixed.

Matt Donovan

Based in Bromley, Working Across the UK

Hi, I’m Matt. If you’re here, you might be feeling emotionally overwhelmed, burned out, or just tired of trying to explain yourself. You may have a rich inner world, a creative or neurodivergent mind, or a long history of being told you’re “too much,” “too sensitive,” or “too intense.”

You might also be someone who’s been through therapy before—and left feeling more confused than helped. Maybe you were given a label that didn’t fit, or you felt your pain was treated like a diagnosis rather than a story.

Whatever brought you here, I want you to know this: your experience makes sense. And it deserves space—without being turned into a problem to fix.

Therapy That Doesn’t Pathologise You
Online, based in Bromley – open to clients across the UK

I work with people who often feel like outsiders—not because there’s something wrong with them, but because they experience the world differently. Deeply. Creatively. Intensely. If traditional therapy has left you feeling unseen or boxed in, you’re not alone.

In existential psychotherapy, space is created for the full complexity of your experience.
This isn’t about reducing you to a label or fitting you into a manual. It’s about meeting your story, your meaning, and the way you move through the world—in your own words, at your own pace.

Especially for people who…

  • Have been told they’re “too much,” “too emotional,” or “too complicated”
  • Are neurodivergent or highly sensitive and tired of being medicalised
  • Are artists, creatives, or deep thinkers navigating meaning, uncertainty, or burnout
  • Have had harmful or unhelpful therapy experiences in the past
  • Feel alienated by mental health systems that focus on fixing rather than understanding

This work isn’t about curing or correcting. It’s about coming home to yourself.

No two people experience the world the same way. For neurodivergent, sensitive, and deep-feeling individuals, therapy begins with understanding how the world feels to you.

A Different Way of Being Together
You don’t need to justify or defend how you feel. In our sessions, we meet as two people—exploring life’s uncertainty, its beauty and pain, with care and honesty.

This kind of therapy is spacious, relational, and grounded in trust. I don’t offer ready made solutions. I offer presence. Reflection. A place to make sense of your experience without fear of being judged, pathologised, or told to be more “normal.”

All sessions are held online. While I’m based in Bromley, Kent, I work with people across the UK.

You’re not a problem to solve. You’re a person to meet.
If you’re looking for a kind of therapy that honours your depth, your difference, and your doubt—you’re in the right place.

Online Existential Therapy Across the UK for for those who think deeply and live in ways that don’t always fit the mould.

Your World

What some of my clients have to say:

,,

During my time with Matt, I have released on such a deep level it still astounds me. I never expected to arrive here, or perhaps never had the trust. But that was something I intuitively felt when I had my first appointment with Matt, a deep sense of easiness and trust, something I had not always experienced in a therapy environment previously.
As with every human ever, I came to therapy thinking "What can this stranger know about me that I don't already know about myself?". Therapy became, very quickly, a journey of self-discovery - the ability gained from pondering upon thoughts or memories that influenced decisions, ideas that I was proud to see surfacing, a humbling experience of human connection and learning. Thank you, Matt - I'm a better human as a result of our work together!
Therapy allowed me to explore extremely young feelings during the depths of my vulnerability. Sometimes I have been lost for words, releasing pure emotion in bewilderment. However Matt's empathetic, compassionate and creative nature has so kindly held me through and helped me objectify my experiences. I felt so safe. I would wholeheartedly recommend anyone to trust themselves and begin this process if they are looking to understand themselves and the world they experience. Thank-you Matt.
Matt’s gentle and unobtrusive method really did make a change in me for the better; his consistent listening, his recall of my previous thoughts and memories, and his subtle interpretation and 'movement' with them, somehow made me become more solid and start to inhabit my own being - flaws and all, instead of running terrified from my shadow. Matt’s approach made me feel genuinely valuable. And when confronted with difficult thoughts and feelings now, I actually move with the experience and have, in many ways, learnt to acknowledge and accept things as they are and no longer feel consumed and lost in them.
Through this process with Matt , I have let go once deeply held beliefs about myself and constructed renewed anchored perspectives. I feel like a flourishing plant which has finally found strong roots or a butterfly who has been through the caterpillar stage and cocooned herself ready to make the ultimate leap towards freedom. I have reconnected with my inner child and discovered a mature, wise woman eager to pursue her life in a more harmonious and grounded way. It has truly been an honour to experience my process of growth and healing with Matt. And I am deeply grateful.
Matt is an amazing therapist who with his empathy and attuned guidance helped me to work through the darkest moments in my life. I was very fortunate to have him recommended to me and I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone in need of help.
Matt is one of the best therapists I have ever come across both personally and in my profession as a social worker and a therapist, with his approach to therapy I have made some major breakthroughs and changes which has been absolutely remarkable for me. Matt has such a sense of being present and fully engaging that it made me feel truly listened to and validated. For me, this ability was extremely therapeutic, healing and invaluable.”
Working with Matt has enabled me to begin to understand myself better, and to unravel years of masking and challenges which I've experienced as a late diagnosed Autistic person. This has helped me to begin to understand my lived experiences, recognise unhelpful coping strategies, and to explore new ways of being - ways of being myself and not hiding who I am-- with new insights which feed directly into everyday life. Confidence built through the therapy has led to employment opportunities and new qualifications. The experience of working with Matt has been life changing .
The sessions with Matt have helped me to recognise and name or give form to feelings. I'm often now able to recognise and understand emotional reactions and responses when I experience them and as a consequence I've been able to begin to break patterns and explore and build new ways of relating and being in the world. This has been very empowering. The therapy sessions are a unique space I have come to trust and I come away from them feeling heard and understood. .

Emotions as a Gateway

Instead of seeing our emotions as obstacles to overcome, distract from  or manage, ‘the world through your eyes’ views them as a doorway to what matters to you.

Existential therapy as self discovery

Together, we’ll take the time to look more closely at the ideas and assumptions that have silently guided your life, sometimes without you even realising it.

'Negative Thoughts' Not Just Noise, But a Message

We often see what we deem ‘negative’ thoughts and behaviours as problems to be erased. An Existentially informed approach to therapy  views them differently. They can be like a message from your inner world, trying to tell you something important.

Re-evaluating Survival Strategies

If we’ve experienced trauma, abuse, or neglect, we might view the world as a cruel and unforgiving place.

Is this you?

Together we can work to overcome these challenges
